High ambipolar and balanced carrier mobility in regioregular poly(3-hexylthiophene)
نویسندگان
چکیده
The carrier transport of carefully purified regioregular poly(3-hexylthiophene) films has been studied using time-of-flight photocurrent measurements. We find balanced ambipolar transport with a room-temperature mobility for holes of 3Ã10−4 cm2 V−1 s−1 and for electrons of 1.5Ã10−4 cm2 V−1 s−1 at electric fields ù105 V/cm. The transport is relatively field independent and weakly temperature dependent, pointing to a high degree of chemical regioregularity and purity. These factors make poly(3-hexylthiophene) attractive for use in a range of electronic applications. © 2004 American Institute of Physics. [DOI: 10.1063/1.1805175]

Dependence of Regioregular Poly(3-hexylthiophene) Film Morphology and Field-Effect Mobility on Molecular Weight
Morphological characterization has been used to explain the previously observed strong correlation between charge carrier mobility measured with thin-film transistors and the number-average molecular weight (MW) of the conjugated polymer regioregular poly(3-hexylthiophene). Atomic force microscopy and X-ray diffraction show that the low-mobility, low-MW films have a highly ordered structure com...
متن کاملDependencies of Field Effect Mobility on Regioregularity and Side Chain Length in Poly(Alkylthiophene) Films
Carrier mobilities in poly(3-alkylthiphene) cast films have been studied by means of fabricating a field effect transistor (FET) at the field range of (0.4–1.6)×104 V/cm. It is found that the regioregurality is markedly effective to the mobilities than the side chain length. The FET mobilility of the regioregular poly(3-hexylthiophene), PHT is approximately 3×10−3 cm2/Vs which is larger than th...
متن کاملMorphology and Charge Transport in Conjugated Polymers
Determining the relationship between charge transport and morphology is key to increasing the charge carrier mobility of conjugated polymers. This review details a fundamental study of the charge transport and morphology of regioregular poly(3-hexylthiophene) and sets out general principles for obtaining high charge carrier mobilities. The basis for this study was the finding that despite being...
متن کاملCharge carrier transport and photogeneration in P3HT:PCBM photovoltaic blends.
This article reviews the charge transport and photogeneration in bulk-heterojunction solar cells made from blend films of regioregular poly(3-hexylthiophene) (RR-P3HT) and methano-fullerene (PCBM). The charge transport, specifically the hole mobility in the RR-P3HT phase of the polymer:fullerene photovoltaic blend, is dramatically affected by thermal annealing. The hole mobility increases more ...
متن کاملA solution state diode using semiconductor polymer nanorods with nanogap electrodes.
A solution state polymer diode, which uses regioregular poly(3-hexylthiophene-2,5-diyl) (P3HT):dichlorobenzene solution as the semiconductor between highly doped p-type silicon and aluminum electrodes has been built. Electrodes separated by a 40 nm gap enable intra-chain charge carrier transfer through the lengths of single polymer chains. This prevents chain to chain hopping and chain entangle...
